SPORTS PROGRAM
"LET'S GO ON A BIKE"
In 2014, at the initiative of the Municipality of Ljubljana, we started implementing a sports program in order to bring the charm of cycling to as many children of Ljubljana's primary schools as possible. More than 20 schools from Ljubljana are already included in it, which is provided free of charge by the Municipality of Ljubljana. At the same time, the program is also available to other elementary schools for a fee.
PRESENTATION
Cycling is an interesting and attractive sport, and above all a very healthy one, but unfortunately many children do not perceive it as such. Dangerous roads, increasing motor traffic and driver impatience are understandable reasons that discourage parents from letting their children ride on the roads. For these reasons, we decided to offer the program to elementary schools "LET'S GO ON A BIKE".
We would like to encourage as many children as possible to ride a bicycle. Instead of going to nearby errands by car or buses should opt for bicycles instead. The bicycle should become the basic means of transportation, but of course it must be safe to ride, so we will teach children how to ride bicycles safely and correctly, and play will lead us to this knowledge. We will pay a lot of attention to skilled driving on various training grounds, and we will help ourselves with many learning aids and learning approaches. But we will make sure that even those who have a lot of excess energy can use it with various competitions. At the end of the program, most of them will have mastered the basic skills of driving through corners, stopping in time, correct posture on the bike, and last but not least, the maintenance of cycling equipment and the basics of cycling theory. The implementation makes the most sense on the school's outdoor sports surfaces, in the winter or in the autumn months, we have also prepared an interesting option for you to choose to exercise on special trainers (special exercise bikes) that we have in our club gym.
The program, (more precisely in the appendices), is compiled for 5 training hours, and it is intended for the 4th or 5th graders of primary schools. The main goals of the program are to increase the popularity of cycling among elementary school students and to teach them how to ride safely and skillfully. In addition to theoretical and practical knowledge of road traffic regulations (which they already acquire with the bicycle test course), we want to offer elementary school students theoretical content about cycling (competitive cycling disciplines, bicycle maintenance, proper gears, etc.), and by including additional cycling content and skills on training grounds and with various games, to increase their skill on the bike. The program is available in three different versions, which are described below.
The price of the sports day is 7 EUR including VAT per student.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE "LET'S GO ON A BIKE" PROGRAM IN THE PREMISES OF KD ROG
The program is implemented in the premises of KD Rog (Vikrče 3). Access by bus is possible, and there is also a bus station nearby where city bus no. 15.

The head of the program from the elementary school and the performers agree on the date of the event, as the police training ground must be reserved at least one month before the event.
